Last week in Battle Creek started hot and stayed that way. Monday through Wednesday ran the high 80s into 93 on Wednesday. The AC never quit. Then Thursday and Friday brought thunder, a 43-mph gust, and about three-quarters of an inch of rain on Friday alone. By Sunday night the low dropped to 54. That is a ceiling leak week, not a wait-until-October week.
While the outdoor unit ran, it made water. That water is supposed to leave through a thin condensate line into a drain or a pump. After days of continuous cooling, algae and sludge plug the line. The pan fills. The overflow hits the drywall, the closet, or the basement ceiling below the air handler. Look at the pan and the line this week.
